At the 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, she claimed gold in the 400m, 800m, and 1500m freestyles, plus silvers in the 200m and two relays.

She continued to excel in short-course events, claiming gold in the 400m, 800m, and 1500m freestyles and contributing to a relay win at the 2022 World Swimming Championships (25 m) in Melbourne.

In late 2024 in Budapest, she captured gold in the 800m short-course freestyle, setting championship, national, and Oceania records, alongside additional medals in the 400m and relay events.

On the international senior stage, Lani won gold as part of Australia’s 4×200m freestyle relay team at the Fukuoka World Championships in 2023 and an Olympic gold in the same relay event at the Paris 2024 Games.

At the 2025 Australian Trials, she posted Oceania records while securing individual titles in the 800m and 1500m freestyles, and also recorded a top-level finish in the 400m.
