Brandon Lee, actor and martial artist, was born on February 1, 1965, in Oakland, California, to martial arts icon Bruce Lee and Linda Lee Cadwell.

From age five, he lived in Hong Kong (1970–1971), becoming fluent in Cantonese and training in martial arts under his father’s guidance, learning Jeet Kune Do, Wing Chun, Eskrima, Silat, and Muay Thai.

After his father’s death in 1973, the family returned to the United States, settling in Seattle and later Los Angeles.

He was expelled from Chadwick School four months before graduation in 1983 but earned his GED from Miraleste High School.
