Héctor Ramón Rivera Alicea better known as Ektor (45 years old) was born on February 11, 1980, in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, and grew up immersed in the island’s rich musical traditions and family-centered culture.

His parents, Iris Alicea and Héctor Rivera Sr., nurtured his artistic instincts from a young age.

He pursued formal training in the visual arts, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Image and Digital Design, magna cum laude, from the Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño de Puerto Rico, and later honed his performance skills through workshops in Los Angeles and San Juan.

Personal Life

Ektor married meteorologist and former beauty queen Yara Lasanta in December 2013 at Hacienda El Cortijo in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico.

The couple welcomed their daughter, Bría Yaré Rivera, on December 2, 2020, in Los Angeles, California, and their son, Evan Darío Rivera, on April 30, 2024.

Career

Ektor’s career began in 1996 with underground rap and tropical music collaborations, but his breakthrough came as second finalist on Objetivo Fama in 2004.

His debut album, Un Paso del Amor (2005), produced the single Te Voy a Amar, and he followed with regional tours and television hosting roles, including co-hosting Telemundo Puerto Rico’s Yo Canto in 2011.

Transitioning to theatre, he made his Broadway debut as Emilio Estefan in On Your Feet! at the Marquis Theatre, and went on to lead in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In The Heights and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita in London’s Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.
