Jonno Roberts was born on July 13, 1979 in New Zealand. He first appeared on stage at a very young age (around 5) when he performed at the tiny Chesil Theatre in Winchester, England. At school in New Zealand he did plays and musicals, and he later performed comedy with his brother Guy alongside Kiwi comics such as Rhys Darby.

He graduated from the advanced theatre training programme at Harvard’s Institute for Advanced Theater Training (affiliated with A.R.T./Moscow Art Theatre) earning a master’s level credential.
