Lance Barber is now 51 years old and was born on June 29, 1973, in Battle Creek, Michigan. His father served as a military police officer and was killed in the line of duty when Lance was approximately one year old. After that tragic event, his mother raised him in Battle Creek.

When he was about seven years old, he saw a production of Grease at the Barn Theatre and decided he wanted to act. In high school, he performed in productions; one role was Jethro in The Beverly Hillbillies in his school theater.

His breakthrough role came in 2005 with The Comeback (HBO), in which he played Paulie G, a television writer. That role was later revived in 2014 when the show returned. He maintained recurring roles in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia as Bill Ponderosa (2010–2013; later seasons) and appeared in Faking It on MTV during 2014–2016.

He also appeared in The Big Bang Theory as Jimmy Speckerman, who had bullied Leonard in high school. In 2017, he was cast as George Cooper Sr. in Young Sheldon, a key role he held until 2024. Though the character dies in the show’s timeline, he also appeared via archival footage.
