Early Life and Education
Matthew Okine was born and raised in Brisbane, graduating from Brisbane State High School in 2002. His mother, Roslyn, passed away from breast cancer when he was 12, and he was subsequently raised alongside his sister Rachel by their father, Mack. He began performing stand-up in his late teens while balancing part-time jobs.

Personal Life
Matt Okine married television producer Belinda Rabe in 2018. The couple has one daughter, Sofia Atswei Okine, born on 13 March 2019.
Career
Matthew Okine’s stand-up career took off in 2012 when he won both the Best Newcomer and Director’s Choice Awards at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
He released the DVD Being Black N Chicken N Shit that year, then in 2014 replaced Tom Ballard as co-host of Triple J’s breakfast show, remaining until 2016.
His special Live at the Enmore Theatre won the 2015 ARIA Award for Best Comedy Release. In 2017, he co-created, wrote, and starred in Stan’s series The Other Guy, earning two AACTA nominations.
In 2020, he formed the children’s music duo Diver City, releasing three EPs and receiving industry award nominations. In 2023, he served as creator, writer, and executive producer on ABC’s reboot of Mother and Son, which was renewed for a second season in August 2024.
