Mark Althavean Andrews, known professionally as Sisqó, was born on November 9, 1978, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was raised in Baltimore, where he attended Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School and graduated in 1994.

During his teenage years, he worked at The Fudgery in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, a fudge shop where employees sang to entertain customers, providing him with early performance experience.  

His parents are Alonzo Andrews, an electrician, and Carolyn Andrews, a Social Security claims clerk. He has at least one older sister, Donisha Althavan Andrews, who has also worked as his assistant. Sisqó is African American and practices Catholicism.

In 2003, Sisqó began dating Elizabeth Pham, and after 15 years together, they married on August 17, 2018, in a Catholic ceremony in Minnesota. The couple has two children: Ryū Andrews, born in June 2012, and Kimiqo Star Andrews, born in September 2014. Sisqó also has a daughter, Shaione Andrews, born in 1995 from a previous relationship.

Sisqó’s music career began in 1996 when he and three other musicians formed the R&B group Dru Hill.
