Early Life and Education

Tom Hopper is now 40 years old as of 2025. He was born on January 28, 1985, in Coalville, Leicestershire, England. Hopper attended Ashby School, where he developed an interest in acting. He further pursued his passion by studying acting at Rose Bruford College, graduating in 2006.

Tom Hopper began his acting career with guest roles in British television series, including “Casualty,” “Doctors,” and “Doctor Who.” His breakthrough came in 2010 when he was cast as Sir Percival in the BBC series “Merlin,” a role he played until 2012. Following “Merlin,” Hopper took on the role of Billy Bones in the Starz series “Black Sails” from 2014 to 2017.

In 2017, he portrayed Dickon Tarly in the seventh season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” However, it was his role as Luther Hargreeves in Netflix’s “The Umbrella Academy,” which began in 2019, that brought him international fame.
