Early Life and Education

Thomas Wlaschiha was born in Dohna in the former East Germany on 20 June 1973, making him 52 years old. He grew up in the Saxony region during the final years of the German Democratic Republic.

Shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, at age 17 he spent a year in the United States as an exchange student, where he acted in theatre and honed his English.

Following his return to Germany, he enrolled in the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig (Hochschule für Musik und Theater „Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy”) where he studied acting from 1992 to 1996. In 1994 he also attended the Conservatoire pour les Arts Liège in Belgium.
