He grew up alongside two siblings in Tallahassee, Florida, where he attended Leon High School, graduating in 1988. Pursuing higher education, he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Samford University in 1992, where he became a member of Sigma Chi, and later completed a master’s degree in communication and the arts at Regent University in 1995.

Personal Life

In May 2003, Hale married Emmy-winning makeup artist Martel Thompson, whom he met through mutual creative circles; the couple welcomed their daughter, Loy Ann, in February 2006.
