Early Life and Education

Barbara Feldon is now 92 years old and was born on March 12, 1933, in Butler, Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of Raymond Dorsey Hall and Julia Stewart Hall. She grew up alongside her older sister Patricia.

She attended Bethel Park High School, then honed her dramatic skills at the Pittsburgh Playhouse. In 1955, she graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology (later Carnegie Mellon University) with a Bachelor of Arts in Drama. She was a member of the Delta Xi chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma.  

Personal Life

Barbara Hall married Lucien Verdoux-Feldon in 1958 after meeting through a shared interest in the arts. The couple divorced in 1967 due to his struggles with addiction.

Beginning in 1968, she entered into a long-term relationship with Get Smart producer Burt Nodella, which lasted 12 years until 1979. She has no children and has lived a mostly private life in New York City since then.  

Career

Barbara Feldon began her career as a model and showgirl in New York before achieving her breakthrough in 1957, when she won the grand prize on The $64,000 Question in the William Shakespeare category.

That appearance led her to acting studies at HB Studio, which in turn led to minor TV roles in Twelve O’Clock High, Flipper, and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Her iconic moment arrived in 1964 with the “Top Brass” commercial for Revlon.

In 1965, she was cast as Agent 99 opposite Don Adams in Get Smart, a role she played through its five-season run until 1970, earning Emmy nominations in 1968 and 1969. Following the series, she appeared on The Dean Martin Show, Laugh-In, The Carol Burnett Show, Thriller, Mad About You, and Cheers.

She also starred in TV movies such as Let’s Switch! (1975) and voiced The Bear Who Slept Through Christmas, with her final screen credit being The Last Request (2006). Feldon transitioned into writing and commentary, contributing to Metropolitan Magazine and authoring two books.
