Hasmik Artashesi Karapetyan, who is now 48 years old, was born on July 4, 1977, in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, Soviet Union. She grew up in an Armenian cultural environment; her father is Zare Ter-Karapetyan, an Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia, and her mother is Varsenik Grigoryan, a theatre critic.
Karapetyan attended Secondary School No. 122 while simultaneously attending music school. Following her graduation from high school, she studied at the Yerevan State Conservatory named after Komitas in the Vocal Department.
She also pursued a degree in Journalism for three years at Gladzor University but left the program before graduating due to her immigration to the United States.
Personal Life
Karapetyan married Shant Kirmizian, an Armenian-American DJ, singer, producer, and businessman, on July 6, 2015. Kirmizian is professionally known by his stage name, SOUNDKODE.
Prior to this marriage, she was engaged to Armenian singer Hayko, but the engagement ended in 2002. Karapetyan and Kirmizian have two sons named Datev and Grigor, and the family resides in Yerevan, Armenia.
Career
Hasmik Karapetyan’s career began in the mid-1990s at Ardzaganq Studios, where she worked as a soloist and musician and recorded six songs. She then worked as a soloist and actress at the State Song Theatre from 1997 to 1999, participating in various music shows.
Her debut album, Rain, was released in 2000, followed by Strange World in 2004 and My Soul in 2005. She released the single and music video for “Kraki par” in 2009, and her fourth album, Fullmoon, in 2010. She also performed three concerts at the State Song Theatre in April 2010. One of her notable collaborations was the duet song “Anhnare” with DerHova.
Beyond singing, Karapetyan has acted in films such as Vodka Lemon (2003), Bonded Parallels (2009), and Symphony of Silence (2001), where she was credited as Hasmik Ter-Karapetian. From 2012 to 2020, she taught stage speech at the Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinema.
