Nora Tschirner, now aged 44, was born on 12 June 1981 in East Berlin, Germany. She grew up with her two older brothers in the Pankow district of Berlin.

Her father Joachim Tschirner worked as a documentary film director and her mother Waltraud Tschirner as a radio journalist. She attended the John-Lennon-Gymnasium in Berlin and later completed her Abitur (school leaving certificate) at the Rosa-Luxemburg-Oberschule in Pankow around 2000.

During her school years she took part in small theatre productions and after leaving school she briefly studied Islamic studies for one semester before focusing on her media career.

Nora Tschirner began her media career in 2001 when she became a presenter for MTV Germany, hosting music-television programs and working in radio (for example on Radio Fritz).

From around 2001 to 2007 she presented various shows and also had early acting roles in television. Her first film appearance was in Wie Feuer und Flamme (2001).

She achieved her breakthrough when she starred as Anna in Keinohrhasen (2007), which became one of the most successful German films of that year and led to further high-profile roles including its sequel Zweiohrküken (2009).

She also appeared in Kebab Connection (2004) and the German crime series Tatort from 2013 to 2021 as investigator Kira Dorn alongside Christian Ulmen.

Beyond acting she has worked on voice acting (for example the German dub of Pixar’s Brave in 2012) and in music, she was a member of the band “Prag” with Erik Lautenschläger and Tom Krimi between 2012 and 2015.
