Early Life and education

Roxanne Pallett is now 42 years old. She was born on 26 December 1982 in Carlisle, Cumbria, England. Her father, Johandar Kaboli-Nejad, is Iranian, and her mother, Monica Pallett, is English (with some Italian ancestry via her maternal grandfather).

Her father left the family when Roxanne was young, and she was raised primarily by her mother and grandmother in the Currock area of Carlisle.

She attended local schools (Robert Ferguson Primary School and Trinity School, Carlisle) before going on to higher education. She enrolled at Liverpool John Moores University and completed a degree in Media and Cultural Studies in 2005. During that time she also studied acting at the Manchester School of Screen Acting.

Personal Life

In 2017 Roxanne began an online relationship with steelworker , Lee Walton who contacted her via Instagram over a shared interest in Elvis Presley. They met in person in December 2017; Walton moved in with her soon afterwards, and proposed a day after doing so.

On 26 January 2020 she married Jason Carrion, a firefighter and former reality TV contestant, at the Lutheran Evangelical Church in New York. In June 2021 she announced she was expecting her first child, later giving birth to a son.

She was involved in a serious accident in July 2018 while driving an F2 Outlaw stock car. She crashed head-on into a concrete wall and was cut free from the vehicle and airlifted to hospital, sustaining a sprained wrist and bruises.

Career

Roxanne Pallett’s career gained early momentum while she was still a student. In her final year at university she co-formed a girl group called Urban Angel and co-wrote songs for them in collaboration with producer Tony Mortimer.

After securing a development deal she spent time in London refining her music and co-creating a television show. She also auditioned for acting roles, and she was offered the role of Jo Stiles in Emmerdale.

She appeared in Emmerdale from 2005 until 2008, playing Jo Stiles (later Jo Sugden). During her time on Emmerdale she earned nominations for awards such as Sexiest Female, Best Storyline and Best Actress at various British soap awards and inside-soap awards.

In 2018, during her participation in Celebrity Big Brother UK, Roxanne Pallett accused fellow housemate Ryan Thomas of punching her several times during a playful interaction. She described his behavior as “repeatedly, unprovoked, completely deliberately.” Ryan Thomas denied any malicious intent, stating the incident was part of a play-fight.

The incident triggered more than 25,000 complaints to Ofcom. Under pressure, Roxanne left the show on Day 17 and later appeared in an interview with host Emma Willis in which she apologized, admitted she had made a “horrible mistake,” and retracted her claims.

The scandal was dubbed “punchgate” by media outlets. Some of her former Emmerdale co-stars spoke out publicly in opposition to her conduct, including those close to Ryan Thomas.
