Early Life and education
Vicki Michelle Nathan is now 75 years old. She was born on 14 December 1950 in Chigwell, Essex. She is the eldest of four daughters born to Joseph Nathan, who was a fish trader at Billingsgate Fish Market, and to Shirley Nathan, who worked as an actress. Among her sisters is Ann Michelle, also in acting. While their parents were busy, the family employed an au-pair; the au-pair was Elke Sommer prior to her own career.
She attended Knewnham Junior School in Wanstead, then West Hatch Technical High School. After she had completed her O-levels, she stayed on to do a secretarial course. She later joined the Aida Foster Theatre School to receive training in performance.
Personal Life
Vicki Michelle has been married to cinematographer Graham Fowler since 1974. They have one daughter, Louise Michelle, born in 1989, who followed in part into acting. In September 2015 she was involved in an incident on a live television related show Big Brother’s Bit on the Side.
She was hit on the back of the head with a champagne glass thrown by Farrah Abraham during a confrontation. The blow caused her whiplash, concussion and balance issues; there was concern she might have been blinded. In 2016 she revealed she suffers from tinnitus.
Career
Vicki Michelle began performing while still at stage school, with small roles in television such as Dixon of Dock Green, and took part in dancing in a 1969 film appearance “The Haunted House of Horror”. She appeared in episodes of Softly, Softly: Task Force and in Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads? in the 1970s.
In 1972 she starred in the film Virgin Witch alongside her sister Ann. She also appeared in films such as Alfie Darling (1975), The Greek Tycoon (1978), Spectre (1977), The Sentinel (1977) and in comedy-film versions of British sitcoms like The Likely Lads and George and Mildred.
Her breakthrough came with the casting as Yvette Carte-Blanche in ‘Allo ‘Allo! written by David Croft and Jeremy Lloyd. She played that part in all 85 episodes from 1982 to 1992, and later reprised Yvette in stage versions and special returns.
After ‘Allo ‘Allo! she continued working in television, stage productions and soap operas. From 2007 to 2009 she appeared in Emmerdale as Patricia Foster. In 2014 she was a contestant on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!. In 2023 she joined the BBC One soap EastEnders playing Jo Cotton, the secret wife of Rocky Cotton.
She also co-founded a business, Trading Faces, in 1992 with her sisters. The company arranges celebrity after-dinner speakers and corporate events, among other related media, production and promotional services. She has worked in radio, with a weekly chat show on Phoenix FM since October 2017.
