Early Life and education

Ina Müller, now at the age of 60, was born on 25 July 1965 in Köhlen, a rural village in Lower Saxony, in what was then West Germany. She grew up as the fourth of five daughters in a farming family.

As a child she suffered from hospitalism until her teenage years. After completing her secondary education, she trained to become a pharmaceutical-technical assistant (pharmacy technician) and worked in pharmacies in various places including Bremen-Blumenthal, Sylt, and Munich.

Ina Müller was in a relationship with singer-songwriter Johannes Oerding from around 2011 until they separated in 2023. They lived in separate residences during that time. They never had children together. Despite their separation, they reportedly maintain friendship and occasional professional exchange.

Career

Ina Müller’s career began in 1994 when she and her friend Edda Schnittgard founded the cabaret/comedy duo Queen Bee. She worked with that duo for many years, performing sketch, song, and cabaret.

Later, beginning in the early 2000s she focused on solo work. She released studio albums, many of which have achieved Gold or Platinum status in Germany. Her albums include Das große Du (2004), Weiblich, ledig, 40 (2006), Liebe macht taub (2008), Das wär dein Lied gewesen (2011), 48 (2013), Ich bin die (2016), 55 (2020) among others.

From 2007 she began hosting Inas Nacht, a late-night music and variety show aired on NDR (and other networks), filmed in a pub in Hamburg. The show is well known for its ambience, its live music, its guests, and Ina Müller’s style of interaction with artists.

She has also appeared in television in other formats: travel, variety, documentary and moderation shows; guest roles in series; and she writes books, including works in Plattdeutsch.
