Career
Keisha Buchanan began her music career in 1998, co-founding Sugababes at around age 13 with Mutya Buena and Siobhán Donaghy.
Their debut album One Touch came out in November 2000; it produced the single “Overload” and several other tracks.
The group’s membership changed: Siobhán Donaghy departed in 2001 and was replaced by Heidi Range. Mutya Buena left in 2005 and was replaced by Amelle Berrabah.
Buchanan remained through these changes and was the only founding member until 2009.
During her time with Sugababes, Buchanan contributed to many chart successes. The group had six number-one singles and two number-one studio albums in the UK.
Notable hits include “Freak Like Me”, “Round Round”, “Hole in the Head”, “Push the Button”, “Walk This Way” (with Girls Aloud) and “About You Now”.
In September 2009, Buchanan was asked to leave Sugababes (i.e. she was removed/replaced) and was succeeded by Jade Ewen. After leaving, she began work on solo material.
She recorded many tracks (reportedly around 50 tracks by 2011) and planned a debut solo album, but that project was never released.
In 2012, she reunited with original members Mutya Buena and Siobhán Donaghy under the name Mutya Keisha Siobhan.
After legal issues, they regained the right to perform under the Sugababes name around 2019.
They released new material: for example the single “Flowers” in October 2019, covers and unreleased material in The Lost Tapes, and have performed at festivals and in live shows.
