Mohammed Abdu was born on June 12, 1949, in Al Darb, Jazan Province. His father passed away when he was just a toddler, and he, his mother Salma, and surviving siblings moved to an orphanage in Jeddah supported by King Faisal’s patronage.

Mohammed Abdu began his career in the early 1960s while studying at the Industrial Institute by performing on the radio program “Baba Abbas” under Abbas Faiq Ghazzawi’s encouragement.
