Paul Scheer, now 49, was born on January 31, 1976, in Huntington, New York, to Gail Ann (Decarlo) and William Paul Scheer.

He attended Catholic schools and graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in 1994, where he began performing improv with Chicago City Limits.

He earned a BA in communication and education from New York University in 1998, studying alongside future collaborators at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Manhattan.

Scheer met actress-writer June Diane Raphael at a UCB Theatre event in early 2004; they married at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History in October 2009, with a Jack Nicholson impersonator serving as Scheer’s best man.

The couple has two sons—Gus (born May 2014) and Sammy (born December 2020)—and resides in Los Angeles, where they balance busy entertainment and family lives.

After writing and performing on Oxygen’s Meow TV (2003) and VH1’s Best Week Ever (2004–2009), Scheer co-founded the sketch troupe behind Human Giant (2007–2008).

He created, produced, directed, and starred as Trent Hauser in Adult Swim’s NTSF:SD:SUV:: (2011–2013), then joined Fresh Off the Boat (2015–2019) and won a SAG Award as part of Veep’s ensemble (2018).
