Mascha Marianne Vang Christensen, now at the age of 46, was born on 31 July 1979 in the village of Byrsted in Himmerland, Denmark. She was raised there; her father worked as a hauler and her mother was a homemaker.

From a young age she used the name “Mascha”, a name she preferred over her given “Marianne,” and she later adopted it officially.
