Ricky Hatton, famously known as “The Hitman,” was a legendary British boxer and one of the most beloved sports figures of his generation.

Born Richard John Hatton on October 6, 1978, in Stockport, Cheshire, England, he grew up in a working-class family on the Hattersley council estate in Hyde, Greater Manchester.

His parents, Ray Hatton, a former boxer and later his manager, and Carol Hatton, ran a local pub where Ricky spent much of his childhood.

Hatton’s personal life was marked by long-term relationships, but he never married.

With his ex-girlfriend, Chelsea Claire, he had his first child, Campbell Hatton, born January 9, 2001. Campbell later followed in his father’s footsteps as a professional boxer.

Hatton was also engaged to Jennifer Dooley, his partner for more than a decade, until their split in 2016. Together, they had two daughters, Millie Hatton, born around 2011–2012, and Fearne Grace Hatton, born July 31, 2013.

Campbell Hatton

Born on January 9, 2001, Campbell Hatton entered the world as the product of a brief reconciliation between Ricky and his ex-girlfriend, Chelsea Claire.

At 24 years old, Campbell was the eldest of Ricky‘s children and the one who most visibly followed in his father’s footsteps into the world of professional boxing.

Nicknamed “Hurricane,” Campbell turned pro in May 2021, quickly building an impressive record of 14 wins in his first 14 fights, including his first knockout victory against Hungarian fighter Attila Csereklye in December 2021.

Trained initially by his uncle Matthew Hatton—a former European champion—Campbell‘s aggressive style echoed his father’s, drawing early hype as a promising lightweight talent managed alongside stars like Anthony Joshua.

However, Campbell‘s career took a challenging turn in 2024 with back-to-back unanimous decision losses to James Flint, the second coming in October at Manchester’s Co-op Live arena. These defeats, coupled with the emotional toll of losing a close friend and a waning passion for the sport, led to his retirement in July 2025 at just 24 years old.

Ricky, who had stepped in as his son’s trainer in March of that year, publicly supported the decision, emphasizing Campbell‘s safety and pride in his efforts: “You can’t play boxing… If you’ve lost your mojo, you need to get out.”

Today, Campbell has pivoted to a practical new career as a solar panel installer, a shift Ricky described as putting well-being first.

Adding to his father’s joy, Campbell welcomed daughter Lyla Hatton in 2018, making Ricky a grandfather at 40 and often sharing heartwarming photos of their bond, including one just weeks before Ricky‘s death, marking Lyla‘s seventh birthday.

Millie Hatton

Millie Hatton, born in late 2011 or early 2012, turned 13 in September 2024, making her the middle child in the Hatton family.

She arrived during Ricky‘s long-term relationship with his former fiancée Jennifer Dooley, a partnership that lasted over a decade until their 2016 split. Unlike her brother, Millie has largely stayed out of the public eye, embodying the normalcy Ricky fought to provide amid his high-profile life.

Just last month, in August 2025, Ricky shared a sun-soaked photo from Tenerife, captioning a meal at Thai Botanico with Millie and her sister: “Lovely meal tonight as always… up in the safari centre with my @xmilliexxhattonx & @fearne.hatton_2013.”

These moments highlighted Millie‘s role in the close-knit sibling dynamic, often pictured alongside Campbell and baby Fearne in earlier family snaps.

At 13, Millie represents the next generation of Hattons growing up in the shadow of a boxing icon, shielded yet shaped by his unwavering love.

Fearne Grace Hatton

The arrival of Fearne Grace Hatton on July 31, 2013, at 5:45 a.m., was a milestone Ricky celebrated with unbridled enthusiasm.

Weighing 6 pounds 13 ounces, baby Fearne—born to Ricky and Jennifer—prompted a Twitter post declaring her “lovely, perfect,” alongside photos of the newborn cradled by her proud parents and greeted by siblings Campbell (then 12) and toddler Millie.

Ricky called his three children his “greatest achievements,” a sentiment that resonated far beyond the ring. Now 12 years old, Fearne has grown into a spirited young girl, often featured in Ricky‘s posts as

That same Tenerife trip in August 2025 captured her laughing through safari adventures, a testament to the joyful family life Ricky had nurtured after retirement.
