Meet Robin Padilla’s Siblings: Ma. Razel Rechilda, Rommel, BB Gandanghari and 13 Others

Robin Padilla—born Carlos Roy Padilla on November 23, 1969, in Daet, Camarines Norte, and raised mostly in Nueva Ecija and Manila—is the most famous member of the sprawling Padilla clan, a family long influential in Philippine entertainment and politics.

Now 56 years old, he stands 5′8″ (173 cm) and has Bicolano, Tagalog, and mixed Spanish-Chinese ancestry. In 1995, during his imprisonment, he converted to Islam and adopted the Muslim name Abdul Aziz Padilla.

He is the youngest of seventeen children of the late actor-director and former Camarines Norte governor Casimero “Roy” Padilla Sr. and actress Eva Cariño-Padilla (Lolita Eva Carino).

Many of his siblings became public figures as well, including Rommel Padilla, BB Gandanghari (formerly Rustom Padilla), Royette Padilla, and Roy Padilla Jr. The extended Padilla family also includes numerous half-siblings from Roy Padilla Sr.‘s other relationships, many of whom pursued careers in acting, politics, or gained attention in the media.

Despite his family’s prominence, Robin grew up poor. As a child, he sold cigarettes on the street and worked as a gas attendant to help support the household. He completed high school at Saint Louis University in Baguio and entered show business at age seventeen, making his debut in 1987.

Robin has been married twice. His first marriage was to actress Liezl Sicangco (1990–2006, later annulled), with whom he shares four children: Queenie Padilla, Kylie Padilla (now a well-known actress), Ali Padilla, and Zhen-Zhen Padilla.

Since 2010, he has been married to TV host Mariel Rodriguez, and together they have two daughters: María Isabella Padilla (born in the United States in 2016) and María Gabriela Padilla (born in 2019).

During his widely publicized “bad boy” era in the 1990s and early 2000s, he was romantically linked to several actresses, including Sharon Cuneta, Vina Morales, and Joyce Jimenez. However, he has been with Mariel exclusively since 2009. He also has a daughter, Camille Orosa, with Leah Orosa.

Rommel Padilla

Rommel Padilla, Robin’s full brother, is one of the most publicly recognized members of the family. A veteran action star known for films like Totoy Golem (1995) and the TV series A Soldier’s Heart (2020), he has maintained visibility through both his acting career and political involvement. His popularity also grew due to his son, Daniel Padilla, one of the Philippines’ top actors.

Rustom “BB Gandanghari” Padilla

Rustom “BB Gandanghari” Padilla, Robin’s full sibling, first rose to fame as a 1990s matinee idol before transitioning in 2009. Now known as BB Gandanghari, she has become a respected transgender actress, filmmaker, and LGBTQ+ advocate in the United States. In 2025, she graduated summa cum laude from the Los Angeles Film School, further boosting her media presence.

Roy Padilla Jr.

Roy Padilla Jr., one of Robin’s half-brothers, followed in their father’s footsteps by entering politics. A former actor who later served multiple terms as Vice Governor of Camarines Norte, he remains a well-known figure in the Bicol region due to his long-standing public service.

Royette Padilla

Royette Padilla, another of Robin’s half-brothers, became known in the 1980s and 1990s for his action films, including Di Na Natuto (1993). His public notoriety later increased due to several controversies, including legal troubles and his disputed claim of a military rank. Despite his quiet years, tabloid interest keeps his name in the public eye.

Roberto Padilla

Roberto Padilla, one of Robin’s older half-brothers, lived most of his life away from the spotlight. Born in 1947 and passing in 2014, he was rarely in the media but is frequently mentioned in family histories as the eldest among the siblings.
