In August-September 1985, she competed in the Miss International pageant held in Tsukuba, Japan, and became the first Venezuelan to win the Miss International crown.

Following her reign, Nina transitioned into television work: she became the presenter of special and variety programmes at the Venezuelan network Venevisión and at the U.S. Spanish-language network Univisión.
