Early Life and Education

Lauren Charlotte Harries was born on 6 March 1978 in Surrey, England to Mark and Kate Harries. He has three siblings. Her father, Mark Harries, worked in the hotel business and catering trade.

The family relocated to Cardiff when Lauren was still an infant. From the age of about five she demonstrated a keen interest in art and antiques, having an apparent ability to spot bargains in jumble sales and second-hand shops. At around age 13 she wrote an antiques guide titled Rags to Riches.

Her schooling was disrupted: by age 14 she experienced depression and agoraphobia, underwent home‐tutoring for her GCSEs.
