Miroslav Josef Klose was born on June 9, 1978, in Opole, Poland, to Josef Klose, a former professional footballer, and Barbara Jeż, a former member of the Polish women’s national handball team.
In 1985, the family relocated to Germany, where Klose pursued his education and trained as a carpenter. He began his football journey with local club SG Blaubach-Diedelkopf before joining FC Homburg in 1998.

Miroslav Klose began his professional football career relatively late, joining FC Homburg in 1998 after playing for amateur clubs. His breakthrough came with 1. FC Kaiserslautern, where he made his Bundesliga debut in 2000 and scored 16 goals in the 2001–02 season.
In 2004, Klose transferred to Werder Bremen, where he became the Bundesliga’s top scorer in the 2005–06 season with 25 goals.
