Career

Tony Yeboah began his senior career with Asante Kotoko in 1981, moving on to Cornerstones Kumasi and then Okwawu United, where he topped the Ghana Premier League scoring charts in 1986 and 1987.

In 1988 he joined 1. FC Saarbrücken, becoming one of the first Black players in the Bundesliga; he scored 26 goals in 65 league appearances over two seasons.

A high-profile transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt followed in 1990.

Despite initial hostility from some fans, Yeboah became the club’s first African captain and won the Bundesliga golden boot in 1992–93 and 1993–94.
