Deepak Joshi was born on June 13, 1962, in Hatpipliya, Dewas district, Madhya Pradesh, India. He was raised by his parents, Kailash Chandra Joshi and Mrs. Joshi, in a politically influential family in Dewas district.

His father, Kailash Joshi, was a founder member of Bharatiya Jana Sangh and served as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

He completed his education with a Graduate Professional degree, earning an LLB in 1986–87 from Government Hamidia College, Barkatullah University, Bhopal.

Career

Deepak Joshi entered politics following his father’s legacy, winning his first MLA seat from Bagli in 2003 on a BJP ticket. He shifted to Hatpipliya, winning in 2008 and 2013, serving continuously until 2018.

During his tenure, he was appointed Minister of School Education and Technical Education and Skills Development in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet after the 2013 victory.

He lost the 2018 election from Hatpipliya to Congress candidate Manoj Choudhary. Discontent with BJP leadership led him to join Congress in May 2023, where he was appointed state vice president and contested (but lost) the Khategaon seat in 2023.

He rejoined BJP in November 2024 in the presence of Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He has been active in public life, including roles like President of All India Yoga Sport.
