Ara Galang was born on January 4, 1995, in Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines, to Mr and Mrs Galang. Her ethnicity is Filipino, and she was raised in a Catholic family. Growing up, Ara showed an early knack for sports, particularly volleyball, which she started playing in elementary school.
Discovered by De La Salle University (DLSU) head coach Ramil de Jesus during a 2009 Shakey’s V-League girls’ division game, her talent was evident even as a young teen. Her determination and love for the game shaped her path, making her hometown and the Philippines proud.

Career
Ara’s volleyball career began at AUF, where she played for the Great Danes from 2007 to 2011, winning Best Attacker in the 2011 Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League.
In 2011, she joined the DLSU Lady Spikers, helping them win back-to-back UAAP championships in Seasons 74 and 75 (2012–2013). She was named Rookie of the Year and Best Server in Season 74 and co-MVP with Aby Maraño in Season 75.
In 2014, she won Best Attacker at the Philippine National Games, but a serious knee injury (ACL, MCL, meniscus tears, and bone bruise) in 2015 sidelined her for months. She returned as team captain in UAAP Season 77, leading DLSU to a 10–2 record.
Ara turned pro in 2016, selected as the first overall draft pick by F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in the Philippine Super Liga (PSL), where she won the 2017 PSL All-Filipino Conference Second Best Outside Spiker and 2018 PSL Invitational MVP.
After F2 disbanded in 2023, she joined Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), helping them reach the 2025 PVL On Tour quarterfinals. Her resilience and skill make her a Filipino volleyball icon.
