Deanna Wong was born on July 18, 1998, in Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines, to Judin Alvizo-Wong and Mr Wong. Her ethnicity is Filipino, and she was raised in a Christian family. Growing up in Minglanilla, Cebu, Deanna was not initially drawn to sports but started playing indoor volleyball in sixth grade at her best friend’s invitation.

Education

Deanna attended Saint Theresa’s College of Cebu for elementary school and the University of San Jose–Recoletos for high school, where she honed her volleyball skills. She later enrolled at Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2020.

Career

Deanna’s volleyball career began in high school at the University of San Jose–Recoletos. In March 2015, she was scouted by the Ateneo Lady Blue Eagles under coach Anusorn “Tai” Bundit, and she debuted as a rookie in UAAP Season 78 (2016). She played as a libero in Season 79 (2017) and transitioned to setter in Season 80 (2018), earning the Best Setter award.

With Ateneo, she helped secure UAAP runner-up finishes in 2016 and 2017, a bronze in 2018, and a championship in 2019. In 2018, Ateneo partnered with Motolite and reached the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Season 2 Open Conference finals but lost to Creamline Cool Smashers.

In June 2020, Deanna signed with the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in the PVL, owned by Republic Biscuit Corporation. She played for the Philippine women’s national team as Team Choco Mucho in the 2021 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship and was slated for the 2021 SEA Games, but was replaced due to a shin injury.

With Choco Mucho, she earned 1st Runner-Up in the 2023 and 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conferences. In 2025, she continues to shine as a star setter, contributing to Choco Mucho’s strong performances. Her career elevates Philippine volleyball on the global stage.
