His father is Babunu Kunnath and his mother is Ambili Padikkal. His family moved to Bangalore in 2011, where he began focused cricket training.

He studied at Army Public School and later completed his Bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, Bangalore.

Career

Devdutt Padikkal made his first-class debut for Karnataka in 2018. He became the highest run-scorer in the 2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy and soon earned an IPL contract with Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the 2020 IPL season, he scored 473 runs and won the Emerging Player Award.

In 2021, he scored his maiden IPL century. He moved to Rajasthan Royals in 2022 and was later traded to Lucknow Super Giants. In 2025, he rejoined RCB. He made his international Test debut for India in 2024 against England and scored a half-century in his very first innings.
