Early Life and education
Jordan Mailata is now 28 years old, born on 31 March 1997, in Bankstown, a suburb of Sydney, Australia. He was raised by his parents Tupa’i and Maria Mailata, both Samoan immigrants. He is one of five sons and has a sister as well.
He attended Condell Park High School in Australia. He grew up playing rugby league for junior clubs such as the Bankstown Bulls, and was selected for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Under-18s team in 2015. He later played for other junior rugby league sides and briefly for the South Sydney Rabbitohs’ under-20s squad.
He faced a significant health challenge as a teenager: he fainted during a pre-season rugby league training session; this led to diagnosis and surgery to repair both the upper and lower chambers of his heart.

Jordan Mailata played rugby league in his youth, representing junior clubs and being selected for Under-18s/Under-20s squads (Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, South Sydney Rabbitohs).
In late 2017 he was invited to try out for the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program. He had never played American football prior. He trained at IMG Academy in Florida.
He was selected in the 7th round, 233rd overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2018 NFL Draft. He did not become a regular starter immediately; his first NFL starts came around 2020.
Over time he improved and gained more starting opportunities. In 2021 he signed a four-year extension with the Eagles, reported around US$64 million. In 2024 he agreed to another extension, a three-year deal worth about US$66 million, with large guaranteed sums.
He has been praised for his pass-protection and run-blocking grades. In 2024 he was named by Pro Football Focus as the top offensive lineman, having earned very high grades in both run and pass blocking.
