Popular Nigerian Skit Maker Mr. Sanku Dies in Fatal Car Accident
The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the untimely death of Raji Samad Adetola, popularly known as Mr. Sanku Comedy, a fast-rising skit maker and content creator.
He tragically lost his life in a fatal car accident along the Oyo-Ogbomoso road in Ibadan, Oyo State, in the early hours of Monday, September 1, 2025.

According to reports, the crash happened when the vehicle Mr. Sanku was traveling in veered off the road and plunged into a ditch. He was with a friend at the time, and both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, believed to be Bowen Hospital, for emergency treatment. Although they initially showed signs of response to medical care, both were later pronounced dead a few hours afterward.
The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, with authorities towing the wrecked vehicle for further examination. As of now, there has been no official statement from local police or traffic authorities.
However, eyewitnesses and social media users have speculated that poor road conditions or excessive speed may have contributed to the crash, though this remains unconfirmed.
Mr. Sanku, who began creating content in 2021, quickly became a household name with his unique blend of comedy and relatable storytelling. He built a loyal fan base on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, where his skits—often centered on everyday Nigerian life—consistently went viral. His authentic style and collaborations with fellow creators helped him stand out in Nigeria’s competitive skit-making industry.

Nollywood actress Funmi Awelewa shared an emotional post on Instagram, recounting how she had sent someone to check on him at the hospital. She revealed that he initially seemed to be responding to treatment, and she prayed for his recovery, but sadly, he did not survive.
This tragedy comes just weeks after another rising Nigerian content creator passed away in a separate incident, raising fresh concerns about road safety. The Oyo-Ogbomoso expressway, where the crash occurred, has been notorious for accidents and has been under construction since 2001. The incident has renewed calls for urgent improvements to Nigeria’s road infrastructure to prevent further avoidable deaths.
Mr. Sanku’s family has yet to issue an official statement, but close sources indicate that funeral arrangements will be announced soon.
