Aboki Naira to Dollar Black Market Exchange Rate Today, 16th June 2025

The Aboki Naira to Dollar black market exchange rate today stands at ₦1,615 to buy $1 and ₦1,625 to sell $1, based on data from street traders in Lagos, Abuja, and Kano.

This slight uptick from yesterday’s rates reflects ongoing pressure on the Naira due to high dollar demand in Nigeria’s parallel forex market. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) official rate, by contrast, is around ₦1,539.72 to $1, underscoring a significant gap between formal and informal markets.

This disparity drives reliance on Aboki traders for quick dollar access for travel, imports, and international payments. Nigeria’s import-heavy economy, limited forex supply, and global oil price fluctuations continue to weaken the Naira. Other major currency rates today include Pound Sterling at ₦2,140 to buy and ₦2,160 to sell, and Euro at ₦1,790 to buy and ₦1,810 to sell.

Key drivers of high black market rates include currency scarcity, economic instability, and lack of trust in CBN’s forex policies. Engaging in black market transactions carries risks like legal issues, scams, and counterfeit currency.

Without policy reforms to boost forex supply or reduce import reliance, experts warn the Naira could hit ₦2,000 to $1 by late 2025.
