Aboki Naira to Dollar Black Market Exchange Rate Today, 8th December 2025
As Nigeria kicks off the second week of December, the parallel market (commonly known as the black market or “Aboki” rate) for the US Dollar (USD) against the Nigerian Naira (NGN) showed signs of relative stability amid seasonal demand pressures.
On Monday, 8th December 2025, Bureau de Change (BDC) operators and street traders in major cities, including Lagos, Abuja, Kano, and Port Harcourt, quoted the following rates:
Trending Now!!:
- Buying rate: ₦1,455 – ₦1,475 per USD (where traders buy dollars from customers)
- Selling rate: ₦1,465 – ₦1,490 per USD (where customers buy dollars from traders)
These figures represent a slight variation across sources, with some markets holding steady from the weekend while others reported marginal adjustments due to increased festive-season remittances and travel-related demand.
Traders noted controlled trading volumes and less speculative hoarding than during earlier volatile periods in 2025. Diaspora inflows and private channels continue to provide some dollar supply, helping to prevent sharp spikes.
In contrast, the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) rate, influenced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), hovered around ₦1,450 per USD, maintaining a premium gap in the parallel market that underscores ongoing challenges in accessing formal FX channels for individuals and small businesses.
Analysts attribute the black market’s resilience to persistent factors such as limited official liquidity and year-end spending. However, the Naira’s performance in early December suggests potential for continued stability if remittance trends remain strong.
For real-time updates, Nigerians often turn to platforms like Aboki Forex, TheCityCeleb, and local BDC networks. Rates can fluctuate hourly, so it’s advisable to check with verified operators before transactions.
