Wrong Girl. Wrong Place. I Went Viral for the Worst Reason
It all started when my guy, Dayo, called me at 11 PM on a Tuesday.
“Bro, I need a huge favour.”
Trending Now!!:
Those words usually mean jail or wedding, and I wasn’t ready for either.
He continued, “I need you to pretend to be my fiancée’s ex during our proposal dinner tomorrow. Just cause small drama. Her friends will record it, we’ll laugh later. It’s part of the surprise.”
I hesitated. “Wait. You want me to ruin your own proposal… as a joke?”
“Exactly! She loves drama. Reality TV type stuff. Trust me—it’ll go viral.”
I agreed. Against my better judgment. I mean… content is content.
Next day, we arrive at this posh rooftop restaurant. Candlelit. Rose petals. Her friends already hiding with their iPhones like it’s Big Brother Lagos.
Then I walk in, just as Dayo gets on one knee.
I raise my voice: “Ada! You told me you loved me last week! And now you’re marrying this guy?!”
Gasps. Drama. Her mouth is wide open. She stares at me like she just saw a ghost.
That’s when I noticed it: her hands were trembling for real.
She whispers, “How… how did you find me?”
My smile dropped. I thought she was playing along.
She says louder, “I told you I was done! You’re dangerous! This—this is harassment!”
Everyone turns to me. Dayo looks very confused. Her friends stop recording.
“Ada,” I stammered, “It’s me—Kunle. Dayo’s friend. This is all part of—”
She screams, “He’s lying!”
And then—security tackled me.
I was escorted out like a madman.
Dayo ran after me 10 minutes later, pale like soaked garri.
“Bro… she says she’s never met you in her life.”
“I don’t understand,” I said, still dizzy. “You told me to crash the proposal!”
He blinked. “I never said which restaurant.”
Turns out: I crashed the wrong proposal. Same girl’s name. Same style. Same night. Different Ada.
Her real ex was dangerous. Restraining order level.
Mine was just… a skit gone rogue.
Two days later, I saw myself on TikTok:
“Stalker crashes proposal in Lekki! Madness in 4K!”
The video had 2.4M views.
And Dayo? He’s still proposing next month.
But I’m not invited.
