Early Life And Education

Chou Tzu-yu is a Taiwanese singer born on June 14, 1999, in the East District of Tainan, Taiwan. She is the daughter of Chou Yi-cheng and Huang Yen-ling, successful entrepreneurs who manage a night market business and plastic surgery clinics, with her mother also operating well-known cafés in Taiwan.

Tzuyu has one older brother, Chou Yi-hsiu. She completed her secondary education at Hanlim Multi Art School in South Korea and later obtained a degree in Drama and Theatre from the National Taiwan University of Arts. Of Taiwanese ethnicity, Tzuyu practices Buddhism.

Tzuyu began dancing at a young age and trained at a local dance academy before being discovered by talent scouts at the Muse Performing Arts Workshop in Tainan in 2012. Later that year, she moved to South Korea to train under JYP Entertainment, preparing for a career in K-pop.
