Renée Taylor began her career as a comedian in the early 1960s, performing at the New York City nightclub Bon Soir, where a then-unknown Barbra Streisand opened for her. In 1967, she appeared as Eva Braun in Mel Brooks’s film The Producers.
Taylor and her husband co-wrote the Broadway play Lovers and Other Strangers, which was later adapted into a film, earning them an Academy Award nomination. They also co-wrote and starred in the 1971 film “Made for Each Other.“
From 1993 to 1999, Taylor portrayed Sylvia Fine on The Nanny, a sitcom that brought her significant recognition. She also appeared in various other television shows, including Dream On, Daddy Dearest, How I Met Your Mother, Shake It Up, and Victorious.
