Hemal Ranasinghe was born on August 25, 1984, in Matale, Sri Lanka, as the third of four brothers.

His parents, Vishaka Chithrangani Mediwaka and Senarath Ranasinghe, were Ayurvedic specialists, as was his grandfather, instilling a sense of discipline and cultural pride in the family.
