Suseenthiran Nallusamy was born on 31 March 1980 in Amarapoorna, Palani. His father, Nallusamy, was a kabaddi player, and his mother, Jayalakshmi, supported the family until her death in January 2021.

He grew up in a Tamil Hindu household influenced by his uncle’s unfinished film project. He completed his local secondary education and moved to Chennai at 18 to pursue filmmaking. Over the next 12 years, he worked as an assistant director under S. D. Sabha and Ezhil before making his directorial debut.

Suseenthiran started as an assistant director under S. D. Sabha and Ezhil before debuting with Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu (2009), a film praised for its realistic rural aesthetics.

He then directed Naan Mahaan Alla (2010) with Karthi and Kajal Aggarwal, followed by Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai (2011), which won a National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.  

His subsequent notable works include Rajapattai (2011), Aadhalal Kadhal Seiveer (2013), Pandiya Naadu (2013), Jeeva (2014), Paayum Puli (2015), Maaveeran Kittu (2016), Genius (2018), and sports dramas Kennedy Club and Champion (2019).
