Akul Balaji is now 46 years old. He was born on 23 February 1979 in Rly. Koduru, Andhra Pradesh, to his parents Akula Bhaskar Rao and Sarala Devi.

He moved to Bengaluru at the age of 16 and immersed himself in dance training, starting with Bharatanatyam under Usha Datar, then contemporary dance at Natya STEM Dance Kampni under Madhu Nataraj, and Kathak under Dr. Maya Rao.

In 2004, he appeared in the theatre production Evam Inderjit, directed by Pawan Kumar, and completed an advanced acting workshop under Mahesh Dattani.
