Al Roker, a well-known American television personality, was born on August 20, 1954, in the vibrant borough of Queens in New York City. Born to Isabel and Albert Lincoln Roker Sr., Al’s heritage includes Jamaican roots from his mother’s side and Bahamian ancestry from his father’s.

 Growing up, Al was surrounded by a large family of two siblings, Christopher Roker and Alisa Smith, who added excitement and joy to their household.

 Al Roker, the American Weathercaster, earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications from the State University of New York at Oswego in 1976. While at Oswego, he also worked as a DJ for the campus radio station, WNYO.


 After completing his college education, Roker kicked off his broadcasting journey by securing a position as a weekend weatherman at WTVH-TV, located in Syracuse, New York, in 1974.

 Displaying his talent and passion for meteorology, he worked as a weathercaster in Washington, D.C., from 1976 to 1978, followed by a stint in Cleveland from 1978 to 1983. These opportunities allowed Roker to enhance his skills and gain valuable experience in weather forecasting.
