Throughout the 1990s, he appeared in supporting roles in Bollywood films such as Chamatkar (1992), Khalnayak (1993), and Josh (2000), while also working on television shows including Chunauti, Itihaas, and Do Aur Do Paanch.

Asgar achieved significant recognition in 2000 when he was cast as Kamal Agarwal in Ekta Kapoor‘s long-running daily soap Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, a role he played for eight years until 2008.
