Early Life and Education
Aron Eisenberg was born on 6 January 1969 in Los Angeles, California, and was adopted by Lawrence and Linda Eisenberg, a Jewish family.
He was born with only one partially functioning kidney, a condition that limited his growth and required a kidney transplant during his teenage years. He later received a second transplant in 2015.
He studied theatre at Moorpark College in California. He was of Jewish origin, and his religion was Judaism.
Career
Aron Eisenberg began acting in the late 1980s with appearances in television films and series such as Amityville: The Evil Escapes, The Wonder Years, Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, Tales from the Crypt and The Secret World of Alex Mack.
He also took roles in feature films including The Horror Show (1989), Beverly Hills Brats (1989), Puppet Master III: Toulon’s Revenge (1991) and The Liars’ Club (1993).
His most enduring role came in 1993 when he was cast as Nog, the young Ferengi who becomes the first of his species to join Starfleet, on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He appeared in 47 episodes across the series’ full run (1993–1999) and also made a guest appearance on Star Trek: Voyager.
Outside of acting he worked as a professional photographer, directed stage productions, and in later years co-hosted the podcast The 7th Rule.
He continued attending conventions and contributing to Star Trek-related projects, including voice work in Star Trek Online, until shortly before his death.
Personal Life
Aron Eisenberg, who stood 1.52 m tall, was first married to Jessica Eisenberg; the couple had two sons, Christopher Ryan Eisenberg and Nicholas Lawrence Eisenberg, before divorcing.
On 28 December 2018 he eloped with actress Malíssa Longo. He was an advocate for organ donation, having undergone two kidney transplants himself.
Eisenberg died of heart failure on 21 September 2019 in Los Angeles at the age of 50.
