Early Life and Education
Davood Ghadami was born on 13 June 1982 in Harlow, Essex, to his father, Mohammad Ghadami, an Iranian-born property developer, and his mother, Mrs. Ghadami. He has two younger brothers, Bobby and Joseph.
Growing up with mixed British and Iranian heritage, he experienced verbal bullying at school related to his background and later attended Saint Nicholas School in Old Harlow.
He went on to university, where he met his future wife. He is of Iranian and British ethnicity, and his religion is Christianity.
Career
Davood Ghadami began his screen career in the mid-2000s with guest appearances in The Bill and early roles in Casualty.
He gained further experience in crime and drama series including Spooks, Criminal Justice, Taggart (as Duncan Clark in the final series), Silent Witness, Skins, Law & Order: UK and a guest part as Jim in Doctor Who. Stage work included performances at the National Theatre in 13 and productions for York Theatre Royal.
His breakthrough came in 2014 when he joined EastEnders as market trader Kush Kazemi, a role he played for seven years across more than 650 episodes until the character’s dramatic exit in 2021.
The part earned him the Best Newcomer award at the TV Choice Awards and nominations at the British Soap Awards.
