Dylan Authors was born on 2 February 1996 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and grew up in an artistic family with his parents, Jeff Authors and Mrs Authors.
His father, Jeff, worked as a filmmaker and first assistant director. Dylan’s grandfather was also a vaudeville performer, and his grandmother was a dancer who performed at venues including the London Palladium.
He studied Media Production at Ryerson University, now Toronto Metropolitan University, where he developed his filmmaking skills alongside his acting career.

Dylan began acting professionally at age 10 after his father encouraged him to audition for Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium. He landed the role of Mark in the 2007 fantasy comedy and shared scenes with Dustin Hoffman and Natalie Portman.
His early work continued with appearances in Across the River to Motor City, Grindstone Road, Flash of Genius, M.V.P., The Dealership, Covert Affairs, Nikita and Connor Undercover. His major television breakthrough came with Falling Skies, where he portrayed Jimmy Boland across the first two seasons from 2011 to 2012.
Authors continued building a diverse screen résumé with appearances in The Husband, Unlikely Heroes, Cracked, Saving Hope, Murdoch Mysteries, The Mist, The Detail and Ransom.
In 2016, he delivered one of his most notable performances as Kit in Bruce McDonald’s Weirdos, a coming-of-age drama that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
