Fumani Nkateko Shilubana (born March 22, 1980), also known as Fumani Nkateko, is a renowned South African actor, director, and film producer.

He has worked on various award-winning films. He has, since his invasion, become one of the sought-after filmmakers in South Africa.

Early Life & Education

Fumani Shilubani was born in the small community of Shiluvana, Tzaneen, Limpopo, South Africa, on March 22, 1980. He is aged 44 years old.

Clifford Shilubana (father), a school headmaster at Mlungisi Primary School, and Nsatimuni Mundhlovu (mother), a Mozambican/South African nurse at Shiluvana Hospital, were his parents. 

Labani Mgimeti and Kumani Shilubana are his younger sisters, and Tebogo Maake is his older brother.

Fumani Shilubana graduated from Mathews Phosa College in Mpumalanga in 1998, then enrolled at the University of Venda in 1999 to study Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Agriculture, which he didn’t finish.

In 2000, he enrolled at Tshwane University of Technology to study Industrial Engineering, which he also dropped out of when he wanted to pursue modeling in Italy. He also didn’t go after enrolling in the Speech and Drama Program at the South Africa.

Personal Life

On October 31, 2016, at Joppie Village, Fumani Shilubana paid lobola (bride price) to his now-wife Nomathemba Olivia Ngobeni.

On December 22, 2017, he and Nomathemba Olivia Ngobeni held a private ceremony at African Pride Mount Grace in Magaliesburg.

His first son was named Vulani Shilubana, while his second child, a daughter, was named Nganakati-Nsuku Shilubana.

Career

Fumani Shilubana is well known for his production and acting roles in the telenovela Giyani: Land of Blood. In the series, he played the role of ‘Vukosi Moyo.’ Following the conclusion of the series, he developed and directed the Mafanato series.

Fumani Shilubana is also a regular on the hit television shows Soul City, Generations, and Isidingo. He frequently speaks in his native dialect, Xitsonga, on television.

Fumani Shilubana also performed the popular part of ‘Detective Dabula‘ on the SABC3 series Isidingo.
