Hal Scardino was born on December 25, 1984, in Savannah, Georgia, United States. He is the son of Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Albert Scardino and business executive Marjorie Scardino, the former Chief Executive Officer of Pearson PLC.
Hal Scardino was raised in Knightsbridge, London, alongside his older siblings, Adelaide Scardino and William Scardino.
He attended Winchester College in England before graduating from Columbia University in 2008, where he was a member of the university’s fencing team.

Hal Scardino made his film debut in Searching for Bobby Fischer (1993), portraying Morgan Pehme.
His breakthrough came in 1995 when he was selected from more than five hundred young actors to play Omri, the lead character in The Indian in the Cupboard.
