Early Life and Education

James Madio was born on November 22, 1975, in The Bronx, New York City. He grew up in the Morris Park and Pelham Bay neighborhoods in a large Italian-American family.

At the age of 15, he attended his first acting audition and landed a role in Steven Spielberg‘s Hook, launching his acting career.

Career

James Madio made his film debut in Hook (1991), playing Don’t Ask, one of the Lost Boys.

During filming, Dustin Hoffman was impressed by his performance and recommended him for the role of Joey in Hero (1992). He also portrayed the young version of John Turturro‘s character in Mac.

In 1995, James Madio gained wider recognition as Pedro in The Basketball Diaries, starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Wahlberg. He later starred as Bobby Lazzarini in the teen sitcom USA High.
