Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s he steadily accumulated credits in independent features and television, including appearances in Brooklyn Sonnet, This Thing of Ours, and guest spots on Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
These early roles allowed him to develop a screen presence rooted in authentic New York character work while he simultaneously explored writing and directing on smaller projects.
