Mason Adams was born on February 26, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York, United States. He was raised by his parents Morris Abrams, a Russian immigrant who owned a machinery and factory tools company, and Freda Sugarman, also a Russian immigrant. He grew up having one younger brother.

He grew up in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood of Brooklyn. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater and speech from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1940 and a Master of Arts degree in theater arts in 1941.

He later studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York City. His ethnicity is Jewish American and his religion is Judaism.

Career

Mason Adams began his acting career in radio in the 1940s. He gained early fame as the lead character Pepper Young in the long-running radio soap opera Pepper Young’s Family from the mid-1940s to the late 1950s.
